Who We Are

Bellefonte Hub is a free community information platform operated by Bellefonte Hub LLC, based in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. We aggregate local events, schedules, business listings, weather alerts, and community resources for residents of Bellefonte and the surrounding area. You can reach us at bellefonte.hub@gmail.com.

What Data We Collect

Account & Authentication

When you sign in with Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo URL from Google. When you create an account with email and password, we store only your email and a securely hashed password.

Account Preferences

We store the preferences you choose: trash pickup zone (A or B), event category preferences, notification settings (email or SMS), saved businesses, saved events, and homepage widget preferences. You control all of these from your account settings page.

Payments

Community Supporter subscription payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We never see, receive, or store your credit card number or any payment card data. Stripe provides us only with a customer ID and subscription status.

SMS & Phone Number

If you opt in to SMS notifications, you provide a phone number. That number is used exclusively to send the notifications you have opted into via Twilio. We do not share your phone number with any third party for marketing purposes.

Analytics & Page Views

We collect first-party analytics: pages viewed, session counts, and aggregate usage data. This helps us understand which features are useful to the community.

Technical Logs

Our servers automatically record IP addresses, browser type, device type, and referring URLs in standard server logs. These are used for debugging and security purposes and are not linked to user accounts unless required for security investigations.

How We Use Your Data

  • To personalize your experience: show your trash zone schedule, filter events by your preferred categories, and display your saved items
  • To send notifications you have explicitly opted into (email and/or SMS)
  • To process Community Supporter subscription payments via Stripe
  • To improve the platform based on aggregate usage data
  • We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising targeting, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond operating this platform.

We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing their data practices:

Data Retention

We retain your account data while your account is active. If you request account deletion, all personal data associated with your account will be deleted within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial record-keeping purposes (e.g., Stripe transaction records).

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct — update or correct inaccurate information in your account settings
  • Export — request your data in a portable format
  • Delete — request deletion of your account and all associated personal data

Cookies

We use session cookies for authentication only. These are strictly necessary for the site to function when you are signed in. We do not use tracking cookies, cross-site cookies, or advertising cookies.

Pennsylvania Note

Pennsylvania does not currently have a comprehensive consumer privacy statute comparable to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU's GDPR. Regardless, we voluntarily follow data minimization principles and best practices for user privacy, as described in this policy.
